President's Letter

It is a true honor to have the opportunity to serve such a fantastic organization as the Sea Services Leadership Association (SSLA). SSLA strives to provide opportunities for female members of the sea services to network, mentor, and learn from one another as we continue to navigate our careers through the challenging – yet rewarding – waters of traditionally male-dominated organizations. Though so many of us have found ourselves as the token woman in our section, many of us have also seen first-hand how such diversity can positively impact our organization.

SSLA provides the opportunity to encourage, mentor, network, and learn from one another. Each year, we proudly host the Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium, bringing together women and men from not only ALL of our uniformed services in the U.S., but many international attendees as well. It’s an amazing two days to share stories, to grow – professionally and personally, and to celebrate the unique perspective and strength we bring to the teams we are a part of.

I’m glad you’ve taken the time to look into our organization. Whether you have a long career behind you with many lessons to share with the junior leaders that follow; you are struggling on this challenging path that few take; or you simply want to support and foster a diverse and dynamic workforce, we welcome you!
